And, no it isn’t the media. I see and hear the planes and helicopters a lot.
Unvaccinated or not, the hospitals are overwhelmed here. I’ll do my best to mitigate that as best as I could.
Numbers are down in other states that don’t require mandates, like FL. Explain that.
You never really showed the numbers of hospitalizations because you expected us to translate your charts. I see my niece living life in Germany so not sure if it is different areas but by what you are saying, it is just a big lockdown there and people all over sick.

Here staff shortages because of the mandates are causing extra work for the hospitals.
Why does it have no merit? I never said vaccinated couldn’t pass it and not get sick. Statistics show that the vaccines help against serious illness and death.
The stricter rules (unvaccinated can’t do much at all) just came in place a few days ago. It has slowly been building up to it. It is too soon to comment on numbers and the result of that. But for now my city’s hospitals are overwhelmed.

Yeah, there’re a lot of details in how it built up to the stricter rules, so I didn’t want to bore anyone with it.
If anything, I think the numbers will show more in the New Year. We shall see.
I’m not sure if they will mandate vaccines for kids here, though. Home schooling is illegal here.
For those against the vaccine mandates, what about regular in-school testing? Would you allow that?

Why do you care so much about what people in the US are doing? Your ruler created their rules for everyone in Germany to follow and whether or not they work is all up in the air. Especially since you have stated that your hospitals are overwhelmed. And from what i've just read infections are still high in Germany. So whatever was done so far is not working either.
As far as anyone wearing cheesecloth masks, including myself, why would anyone who is vaccinated care? And now that they are forcing kids to get vaccinated, that whole protecting the kids thing will go out the window. And what we are going to have to realize is that much like the flu, Covid will peak in the winter months and you can get a shot yearly or you can hedge your bets like with the flu.

I’m on the fence about vaccine mandates (and I’m fully vaccinated and so is everyone in my family), but I strongly believe that more random testing should be done.
I also think more research needs to be done on the 10 day isolation period. I’ve seen no studies about this since 2020. People with mild/asymptomatic cases needing to isolate for 10 (really 11) days by the time the paper work clears seems excessive. I want more data!

The mandate is such BS, but we are going to try and get the kids vaccinated this week.
They won't be able to attend after school without it and to be honest when you're working from home, disappearing every day at 2:30pm for an hour or so looks a lot worse than disappearing at 4:50pm for 30 minutes (at 2:30pm the kids plead to go to the park so I relent)
Living in a 1 bedroom apartment with 2 young kids also makes it hard to work so after school helps with that. Although it is expensive, but thinking about it, it would be cheaper just to get a babysitter (it works out to be about $35 each day per kid for 2 hour ish) but the kids would lose the socialization

I don’t really understand what people want. You (general) don’t want to wear a mask, but rather cheesecloth masks. You don’t want to get the vaccine. You don’t think the vaccine even works. You don’t think any of the rules make sense.
I really don’t understand how people want to go about this. Learning to live with Covid? Yeah, I got that, but treating it in hospitals isn’t at its full potential yet. And healthy eating takes time for the whole population to do. They have been working on that forever. Or do you want to just wait and watch the hospitals get overwhelmed and then what?
Our rules are a little different here (FFP2 masks everywhere and unvaccinated can only go to work (but need a special test to go on public transport), the supermarket and essential shops; no restaurants or shopping at all for them and they are checking everywhere), but it seems to be working and numbers have gone down a lot. But they had to call in the air force to bring patients to different states and different countries, so that we can avoid getting fully overwhelmed, as people are already dying from heart attacks because the hospitals are full and they are not making it in time for treatment. And, no it isn’t the media. I see and hear the planes and helicopters a lot.
Unvaccinated or not, the hospitals are overwhelmed here. I’ll do my best to mitigate that as best as I could.
Numbers are down in other states that don’t require mandates, like FL. Explain that.
You never really showed the numbers of hospitalizations because you expected us to translate your charts. I see my niece living life in Germany so not sure if it is different areas but by what you are saying, it is just a big lockdown there and people all over sick.
I don’t know about other states like Florida.
I gave you a chart. If you can’t google and look at our world in data, I don’t know what to tell you. Ask your niece to translate for you?
I’m going to guess she is probably in another state. But go on, keep telling me what *I’m* experiencing isn’t real. I’m vaccinated. It’s the unvaccinated that are in lockdown here. If you want to go to crowded places and you are vaccinated or recovered, you also need a negative test.
But that wasn’t the point to my post. Hospitals are overwhelmed in my state. What do you want them to do instead of constantly complaining about it all day? What’s your plan?
The hospital argument has no merit. You still get sick and pass Covid even if you have the shot. If all your unvaccinated people are quarantined, why are your hospital numbers going up?
Here staff shortages because of the mandates are causing extra work for the hospitals.
Why does it have no merit? I never said vaccinated couldn’t pass it and not get sick. Statistics show that the vaccines help against serious illness and death.
The stricter rules (unvaccinated can’t do much at all) just came in place a few days ago. It has slowly been building up to it. It is too soon to comment on numbers and the result of that. But for now my city’s hospitals are overwhelmed.
You didn't say it only started a few days ago so I had to gauge my response on what you wrote.
Yeah, there’re a lot of details in how it built up to the stricter rules, so I didn’t want to bore anyone with it.
If anything, I think the numbers will show more in the New Year. We shall see.
I’m not sure if they will mandate vaccines for kids here, though. Home schooling is illegal here.
For those against the vaccine mandates, what about regular in-school testing? Would you allow that?
I’m on the fence about vaccine mandates (and I’m fully vaccinated and so is everyone in my family), but I strongly believe that more random testing should be done.
I also think more research needs to be done on the 10 day isolation period. I’ve seen no studies about this since 2020. People with mild/asymptomatic cases needing to isolate for 10 (really 11) days by the time the paper work clears seems excessive. I want more data!
That would be nice. Most people I know who have had Covid recently (mostly kids) were chomping at the bit by day 6... The parents said the last few days of quarantine were worse than the Covid itself.

See I think it's a matter of- well it doesn't affect ME so whatever.
Many people are vaccinating their kids by choice. Which is fine.
But in their mind- "yeah I don't believe in mandates for kids, I think it's wrong, but it wont' affect my kids because they are vaccinated anyway- so yeah, whatever"
That's kind of what it comes down to. You can disagree with something but if it doesn't affect YOU too much, it's kind of like an afterthought.

Yes, I noticed this very well when my kids were kicked out of school back in 2019.
But even for those that are still doing it, they do it because they trust (I’m not talking about the ones being forced to do it-I actually feel for them  ). It’s surprising to me that there’s not an ounce of skepticism in them, not one. They unfortunately don’t see the bigger picture and how this can affect us all in the future if things continue going the way they are. Since when those in power want what’s best for the people? Never. Self interest and power is what matter to them.

It IS getting old that we have to keep talking about this. People need to stand up and say no, I am not going to listen to this absurdity anymore. You can see just from this board though that some people will do anything that is told to them, no questions asked and that is what this government loves.
Let people decide what is best for them and we won’t have to keep talking about this.
As I sit here getting my weekly Covid test because, you know, only the unvaccinated can have Covid so my coworkers who are vaccinated don’t have to get tested. Makes no sense whatsoever but I do what I am told I need to do.

Oh how you like to throw everyone into a category and generalize. So your theory is that everyone who made the decision to vaccinate our families did so without a thought, without asking a question and just took the vaccine and decided to booster because we were told to?

Obviously it isn't getting old because we are talking about it. Is it getting old for you asking this stupid question when you can just scroll on by?
Also, there are new mandates coming out, so its only normal that people will talk about them. These are new mandates the government is pushing for NYC. Doesn't seem to be old news for the government, so why would it be for the people?
