can anyone recommend a good canister vacuum for hardwood floors? Thanks!

 I was just about to ask the same question. We have a Hoover Windtunnel and it just doesn't seem to be working well on the hardwood floors.

OOO Im so glad this was posted, i kept meaning to ask. What do you use to wash the floors? We just moved into our house and i dont know how to care for the hardwood floors.

Me too. I absolutely love my kenmore canister. I have hardwood, area rugs and carpeting and two very hairy indoor cats.

Me too. I absolutely love my kenmore canister. I have hardwood, area rugs and carpeting and two very hairy indoor cats.
Love my Kenmore...and we have a cat and a dog...I love the versatility of my vacuum.

You reallly need to be careful. Water and dust are the enemies of hardwood. The company who came to refinish and install hardwood in the rest of the house said... vacuum thoroughly, swiffer every couple of days and wash every two weeks warm water with a bit of vinegar sprayed on a microfiber mop.
Absolutely no chemicals and make sure the floor is dried. Never leave standing water on hardwood.
Pergo is a different story, you can use some cleaners on it.

I haven't personally cleaned my floors in in 6 months, but I bought the mop & glo wood floor cleaner and my cleaning lady thinks it's great.

That's what I have too and I use Murphy's Oil Soap on the floors to wash them.

We use the same thing! I think we bought it at Ace Hardware.
