Vacuums-Upright or canister?

We have a mix of hardwood floors and carpet. We have an upright but it's so cumbersome when I want to use the hose.

Thoughts?

I didn't vote because I have both. Upstairs (all carpet) we have the upright and downstairs (mix of floors) we have the canister.

I love my Kenmore canister - it moves around so easily it's like it's propelled. I have wood with area rugs downstairs and carpet upstairs.

i vote for Canister all the way. We went thjrough like 4 cheapie uprights so I finally went and bought a Sears Progressive Canister-It is so much better! I like the vaccuum-it is the mid level one they have 3 different ones.

I prefre the canister for that exact reason...when you need to use an attachment on the upright I feel like you don't get enough slack with the hose

Re: Vacuums-Upright or canister?

I grew up on Electrolux Canister vacs.
When I moved I obviously didn't have enough $$ for one, so I bought "cheap" uprights.

Finally I decided enough was enough and I bought a GREAT upright...that just so happens to come with a canister vac. So we have both also.Chat Icon

Loving our Kenmore canister. Very light..we have two levels so it's a lot easier than schlepping an upright up and down the stairs.

I have both carpet and wood, so to be basically all wood. I hate uprights. I like my kenmore canister.

Re: Vacuums-Upright or canister?

I have an Electrolux canister vac but grew up with an upright. Honestly, I don't know if I am too crazy about the canister (although I have only vacuumed about 3 times with it). I always feel like I am banging it into the walls around my newly painted house. Chat Icon
