Valances- do you put a rod or one of those invisable rods?

Valances- do you put a rod or one of those invisable rods?
Like... one with decorative things on each side... or are you not supposed to see the rod at all?

I would think you could do either way, although in my DR we have one and I use the plain white curved one (is that what you mean by invisible?) and then I curve the valance around to give it a "box" look

I have the "curved" rod too. But you can use the tie style curtain with it. It's not pretty enough to be exposed.
I am actually going to use a "double" rod. One for the sheer, one for the valance.
