valium for IVF?
yesterday freedom called to schedule my meds delivery and one of the meds on the list was valium. what exactly is that for? i assume its for the day of the retrieval or transfer. is it 100% necessary???
with all of the shots and the meds and hormones we have to do, i still hate taking ones that are directly mood altering.

I was given 1 valium pill to take the day of transfer. It's just to relax you. I wouldn't worry about it.

I've heard it's taken the day of the transfer as well to relax you. My office never prescribed it but I have heard others getting it.

i prob wont take it if i dont HAVE to. i feel like ill be more excited than anxious!! maybe ill save it for the 7 days before the beta though

I was given one Valium for the day of transfer too. My Dr said he wished everyone would take it. It helps for your body to be relaxed completely for the transfer. Don't know if thats what did it but I got a BFP!! I say take it...can't hurt!

It is a VERY mild dose. Its not so much for the emotional aspect, but to relax your uterus for ET. If the uterus contracts during the procedure, it can cause difficulties with the ET as well as possibly with implantation. I would take the pill!

if its for a good reason i have no problem taking it, but if its mainly for emotional anxiety i would prefer not too. ill do whatever dr. b says though

That's exactly my take on it! I figured I have gone through a lot of emotional stress already and I really don't mind dealing with a little more...but if the valium is needed to favor things in happening then I'm all for it!

I took it per Dr B and got my BFP with him. Best of luck!
