Valley Stream School District
Does anyone have any insight on Valley Stream School district? I know it is a large district, the only thing I am sure of is the elementary district is 13 but I am unsure of which high school I would be zoned to.
Any help out there?
TIA

Re: Valley Stream School District
Some parts of Valley Stream is Valley Stream Central High School District (the high schoolws are considered one district) OR Sewanhaka High School District (there are about 4-5 high schools in this district).

Re: Valley Stream School District
I was a product of both VS district 13 and Central HS.... if that tells you anything
Not really sure how the schools are now...
I believe if you are zoned for district 13 then you are zoned for Central

my brothers and sisters are products of the district. ( i stayed in private school.)
district 13 was my district. you would either go to valley stream central or valley stream north, depending on where exactly you live. the district is huge.

This is what we have...WIllow and North.
I live in the Dogwood Estates section of FS.
Willow is an EXCELLENT elementary school. I was a teacher and have very high standards...the school is AMAZING! My son has been there for 3 years.
From friends who have children at North, they love it. They have unbelievable programs and excellent honors classes. I wish I was a student there.
They have a "home ec" class that sounds sooooo awesome...I wish I could sign up the DH.
But just check which schools you would be zoned for. District 13 elementary schools are Willow, Wheeler, Dever and Howell. Not sure about the others...but I believe Willow to be the best, in the best area.

Re: Valley Stream School District
If you're in the Incorporate Village you go to Central. This is our district too.

Re: Valley Stream School District
Ok, I found out it would be Memorial & Central.
Any experience with these schools? If you had to rate the 3 high schools in rank order, what would it be?

Re: Valley Stream School District
Actually you have the option to request to attend any hs upon entrance into the high school district, so while you might be zoned for those schools you can request to go to north or south. In fact most district 13 residents now attend north bc of this policy. I have 1st hand experience w the district both as a student and teacher, feel free to FM me w specific questions.

I'm sorry. I have no idea about those schools. If you decide to go to North, I believe you can. You are just wait-listed as people in the area get first dibs, I believe.

I went to both. I moved out of the area about 8 years ago. I wouldn't send my kids there if I had the choice--but that's just me

Re: Valley Stream School District
Its a decent school district. We have our DD there right now. You will find mixed reviews but I find that even the schools in the $$$ districts have their own issues as well so take peoples advices good or bad with a grain of salt.
