VBAC Ladies...talk to me....
Was your doctor open to a v- bac? and if not...what did you do...
as my pregnancy progresses...the thought of having to endure the torture that was my last c-section recovery...is making me think harder and harder about this.....

Re: VBAC Ladies...talk to me....
Mine aske me if I wanted to try a VBAC, I looked @ him like he had 12 heads and asked him when I'd be showing up for my C section -
I'm the opposite, the thought of going through that labor and pain and FOREVER waiting and nothing happening makes me that they'll just schedule me and I'll know exactly what to expect and it will be done. -
BTDT for all of the other 'labor' crap, I don't need to push this time

Re: VBAC Ladies...talk to me....
I think headoverheels had a vbac and has an entry on her LIF blog thingy about the experience.
My practice (3 Village Women's Health) will allow me to have a VBAC, given that everything looks good.
I am still bouncing the idea around.
I know deep down in my heart I "screwed up" my labor and ended up with an emerg. c because of the choices I made. I just know it.
My recovery from the c was a dream, but I still don't know if I want to go through it again...I hate feeling like a bed-ridden patient.
It would be so nice to have a baby the "regular" way and recover very fast.
We shall see...

Re: VBAC Ladies...talk to me....
I didn't think I'd be a good candidate for a vbac because I failed to progress with ds #1, even on pitocin.
Imagine my surprise when my water breaks a week before my scheduled c/s and I go from zero/closed to 4 cm in 1 hour. My OB showed up and was ready to do a vbac with me at that point. If I didn't have an 8+ lb baby in there, I probably would've went for it. I already knew, based on growth sonos that the baby was big and DH and I didn't want to take the chance. (he ended up being 8lbs 12oz)
Part of me feels like maybe I should've gone for it but, they asked me after laboring pretty hard and by the time they rolled me in for the spinal I was nearing 7 cms with barely a moment to catch my breath between contractions

Re: VBAC Ladies...talk to me....
My doctor was not, so I switched doctors. Unfortunately, I didn't find out until several weeks after I switched that 1 of the drs can't do it (there are 2 doctors in the practice) so if I happen to go into labor when the dr who can do it is off, then I will need a c-section. This doesn't make me 100% happy but at this point in my pregnancy I don't feel like switching again.

That was rude of them to not be upfront about that info

Lauren, no one can force you to have a C once you are in labor.
If you are uncomfortable I would definitely think about switching practices. This is something I felt very strongly about when I got pregnant with DD.

Re: VBAC Ladies...talk to me....
Jaime, I knew I wanted a VBAC as soon as I gave birth to Luca. That's how I chose my OB practice and hospital.
I researched the crap out of VBACs and learned I was the perfect candidate - never labored before, DD was measuring normal size, good fluid levels etc.
I had to fight for my OBs to let me go past my due date, but I did and I won. I would have walked out if they tried to schedule me for a C.
I will say this - DS's head was huge, so it's certainly possible that if I had gone into labor with him he would have gotten "stuck" and I would have needed a C anyway - making me a not-so-good candidate for a VBAC. So in the end, it all probably worked out for the best that I had a C with him and a VBAC with DD.

Re: VBAC Ladies...talk to me....
I had no problem going into labor with son, but due to other issues...I had an emergency c-section.
I had Diabetes last time which made for excessive amniotic fluid, which I don't have this time.
I hated the recovery process and thought I was going to die. My ob is just assuming that I will have another c section, but I really want to play it by ear....

Re: VBAC Ladies...talk to me....
I am with you. I hated the c-section recovery and I can't help but feel it was unnecessary.
I did not have a cs with my first dc (12 years prior) and the circumstances were almost exact.
Back then the Dr.s laughed at me when I asked for a section after 30+ hours of labor.
Recovery from the two different births was sooo different and I would take the 33 hours of labor (with no drugs) over a c-section recovery 10000Xs.
This time my Dr. told me I should be able to have a VBAC... I might consider switching if he was not supportive.

Re: VBAC Ladies...talk to me....
My Dr was 100% supportive of a VBAC, but I decided to schedule a c for 40 weeks, hoping I would go into labor sooner. Well, I didnt and I was lucky I had a second c. After the surgery, my Dr. said my uterus was paper thin (she said she could see the baby through it) and that if I had a VBAC my uterus probably would have ruptured, my bladder was so close to my uterus that if they had to perform an emergency c to save the baby they would have cut my bladder and the cord was wrapped around my son's neck.

Re: VBAC Ladies...talk to me....
I am 90% sure I will try fr a vbac with this one.
My dr is open to the idea and told me I can decide last minute as long as the baby isnt measuring huge and I am not as late as I was with Sadie.
