Vegan/Vegetarian restaurant recommendations?
Anyone have any recommendations for restaurants that have vegan offerings in the city? (if you have LI recs, please post them too for my future reference) Besides the Zen Palate. DH and I are probably going to plan a daytrip into the city and I want to eat somewhere new.
Thanks

If you can't live in NYC, you should try to make it out more often - I need someone who can appreciate the vegan goodness of Baby Cakes Bakery with me!

I think it's called VG1 - It's in the village - It's veggie Chinese food. Yummy.

I have this bookmarked and I will surely be torturing myself by looking at their delicious options ever so sporadically throughout the day.

Re: Vegan/Vegetarian restaurant recommendations?
My favorite veggie places are:
Gobo Candle 79 Candel Cafe Vatan Zen Palate
I also know of a lot of places that are "veggie friendly" so, if you want to tell me what kind of food/environment you want-- i can give more reccos.

I am looking for a dinner place that has vegan options (preferably one that is all vegan or that labels which options are vegan) that isn't too $$$ and has options that a meat-eater might also like.....
Ambiance is nice, but I am all about the food

Re: Vegan/Vegetarian restaurant recommendations?
I love Candle Cafe and Candle 79 - I used one of their recipes for my wedding.
Try also Angelica Kitchen (downtown) or Quantum Leap (in Queens). Both delicious!

Re: Vegan/Vegetarian restaurant recommendations?
Love Gobo
I have had desserts from Angelica's Kitchen, also good, I heard they grow all their own produce as well.
I am very familiar with Caravan of Dreams, on 1st and 3rd. DH and I are not vegans, but DH and my brother ran the place so we ate their often. Its vegan kosher.
have fun!

ok-- well, I am not vegan, but I know that Mexican works really well for all veggies, and then vegans can go sans dairy products..
Both on the UES Rosa Mexicana Canyon Road
Also-- tapas also works really well. I love Pipa on 19th and bway
And also Il Buco(East Village) is like italian style tapas-- as well as Gonzo (Lower Chelsea/sorta West Vill)which is fabulous-- they make gourmet pizza too, and have lots of small plates, salads and entrees.
Oh-- and Tabla Bread Bar-- on 25th and Mad.
