Vegas, Kids and Babysitters

Hi there

My husband and I are hitting Las Vegas in May for a week long vacation with my 2 year old daughter.

We know there are lots of things to do with kids, but does anyone have any tips / advice?

Also, we want to be able to go see a couple of shows while we are there. Can anyone recommend a babysitter for hire?

We've hired babysitters on other vacations and have had luck with it but if someone has a recommendation or has had bad experience with a service, I'd like to be prepared.

My parents have a house there (about 15-20 minutes away from the strip). I can see if my mom will be there and she can babysit!

I'm going to Vegas in late April to early May with my two boys, ages 2 and 4. My DH has a work conference and we are tagging along since we have famly in Henderson. We are staying at the MGM and Venetian. I've learned that Vegas is not really geared towards family but we are going anyway. Sorry, I have no idea about the babysitting question. Did you ask the hotel?

Are you going to have a car? I'm definitely getting a car so I can go places off the strip.

Some things I plan on trying to do on the strip are:
Mandalay Bay- Shark Reef
MGM Grand - Lion Habitat
Circus Circus -Aventuredome (a bit skeevy but my oldest like the rides that last time)
Mirage-Dolphin Habitat/Volcanos
Town Square Mall/Park

Off strip:
Lied Discovery Children's Museum
Hoover Dam (Went last year)
Red Rock Canyon
Grand Canyon Train ride
The District at Green Valley Ranch-shopping and Merry Go Round
Bonnie Springs (Went last year)
Springs Preserve

Hi

We have the same on-strip list. And depending on how the week goes we might check out the Children's Museum off-strip. We figured she'd also get a kick out of the gondola ride at the Venetian and the M&M store.

Plus I think she'll think the Volcano at Mirage and the fountains at Bellagio are cool.

We have family in Albuquerque who might meet us half-way in Flagstaff for a day. And we also plan some plain old relaxing pool time.

We're staying at the Marriott Grand Chateau Time Share so we have a full kitchen which will be convenient for breakfast and some lunch.

I haven't called the hotel about babysitting yet. I know there are services. I'd just rather have a recommendation if I can.
