Vegetarian moms???

Just wondering for those of you that feed your chilc a vegetarian diet...

will you allow your child to try meat if they want to?

If not at what age will they decide weather or not they want to be a vegetarian?

not putting it down AT ALL, i think its great and healthy, just curious....

No, I won't let her try it just yet. As long as I can control her diet, I don't want her eating meat. At some point, when she's old enough to grasp what exactly it is that she's eating, I will have a talk with her and explain that in our hourse, we don't eat meat and will explain to her why we made this choice. She'll have the freedom to eat whatever she wants outside the home, but no meat preparation inside our house.

Of course at some point she will be curious and will want to try it - but I don't want her to do that until she really understands what exactly it is that she's eating.

Right now, if we're out and she asks for a piece of meat, I tell her, for now, No, and I explain it as simplistically as I can (i.e. "that is cow, an animal, just like sparky, our dog - you wouldn't eat sparky would you? No, so we don't eat cow either").

AWWW I fell sad now that you say it that way...Poor Betsy, I had a burger last night... :(

I dont eat fish though....so at least I save them

meany!!! haha jk, i know fish scare me...u will be happy to know my FIL is a commercial fisherman and slaughters hundreds a day...JK that was mean
