Re: vegetarian moms... i have a question...
If you are vegetarian you still usually eat dairy items and possibly eggs and fish...
Vegans dont eat any animal bi products at all..so no milk, cheese, eggs, or fish...

Re: vegetarian moms... i have a question...
Not onebut found this:
Vegetarian diets exclude all meat, poultry, and fish and are based on plant foods. Most vegetarians include dairy products and eggs in their diet; this type of diet is sometimes described as lacto-ovo-vegetarian whereas vegetarians who exclude all animal foods from their diet are termed vegans.

Re: vegetarian moms... i have a question...
Definition: Vegans do not eat meat of any kind and also do not eat eggs, dairy products, or processed foods containing these or other animal-derived ingredients such as gelatin. Many vegans also refrain from eating foods that are made using animal products that may not contain animal products in the finished process, such as refined white sugar and some wines. Although there is some debate as to whether certain foods, such as honey, fit into a vegan diet, if you are cooking for other vegans, it is best to err on the side of caution and avoid using these foods. Perhaps the most common question about veganism is “What do vegans eat?” A vegan diet includes all grains, beans, legumes, vegetables and fruits and the nearly infinite number of foods made by combining and preparing them. Many vegan versions of familiar foods are commercially available, which means you can purchase vegan hot dogs, ice cream, yogurt, cheese and vegan mayonnaise. Most vegans also avoid the use of all products tested on animals, as well as animal-derived non-food products, such as leather, fur and wool, whenever possible.

im just really curious about this. If you are following a strict no-animal product diet, then there are plenty of cheese alternatives.

Re: vegetarian moms... i have a question...
Vegetarians still eat dairy products... vegans do not.
When we decided to raise Alex vegetarian we met with our pediatrician and a pediatric nutritionist, who gave us some guidelines in providing her with enough nutrients, iron and protein with substitutes. Both stated that raising a child vegetarian isn't too difficult and can be done successfully, but both also recommended strongly against a vegan lifestyle for a child - the nutrients children receive from dairy products are essential and it is very cumbersome and difficult to substitute.
