Vent - do I have to plan EVERYTHING?

Sorry - but I have to vent.

I know I have a lot of people in my life that love me very much, but lately they are driving me nuts.

When I got married - my MOH/BF couldn't get her act together so I basically planned my shower after she told me she didn't have time.

Now that I am having a baby - no one wants to take responsibility to plan my shower - so I am not having one.

My 30th bday is in 6 weeks - and everyone is waiting for ME to plan it....

grrrrrrr...........

Like I said - I know they care very much - but I feel like it's not fair to always have the responsibility fall on me.

I probably sound like a brat...

(ETA - I am always planning other peoples events, ALWAYS having them at my house - always footing the bill...so I guess that doesnt help my feelings about this)

see in my case, i actually like planning my own stuff

my 30th b-day is next april and i am planning the party

if you want something done right, do it yourself

but you are right, it does get tiresome and your vent is totally justified

Re: Vent - do I have to plan EVERYTHING?

Totally understand your vent!! That happens to me at times, things won't get done unless I do them myself!!

I agree that it's annoying and frustrating. For me I think the issue started because years ago I took on the role and it snowballed.

Re: Vent - do I have to plan EVERYTHING?

I would be mad too. I always go above and beyond the call of duty for people so it hurts when the favor can't be returned. That stinks that now you can't have a baby shower cuz noboday can get their act together.

Maybe you should start telling people that you are busy...and let them plan their own parties...

I totally understand where you are coming from. I guarantee I will end up planning my own 30th bday in October too. I am the planner here.

Re: Vent - do I have to plan EVERYTHING?

That always happens... where there's a 'planner' in a family or group of friends, it's rare for anyone else to take that challenge when the focus is on the planner her/himself.

It's easy for others to forget the planner's events... especially when the planner always spoils the group by always planning things. I say let someone else handle things for a while, to get them accustomed to doing things for themselves... and hopefully, the next time around, you'll get some parties throw for you.

Sorry you had to vent. Chat Icon
