Vent - Twin day at school
Ugh! Stupid idea so all the parents stress about dressing them the same as their friends. I get the idea, but then someone is left out.
My boys are 1st and 3rd graders. They have twins now to dress the same with, but my 3rd grader said his closest friends are wearing a sports team together that my DS doesn't have. He's going to twin with another friend now. One of his best friends told him since they did it last year he doesn't want to this year.

Sounds like the school is just asking for a kid to feel left out. I don't like that idea

Vent - Twin day at school
That is really dumb. Why don't they just do crazy sock day or mismatched day?

Agreed! It's stupid. I'm glad it got worked out for the boys, but I know other kids who didn't have a twin or the last min couldn't find something they both have that match.
Usually love the school ideas and they do a lot of Spirit weeks, but this one is not a good idea.

Vent - Twin day at school
We had this when I was in elementary school and it was always a debate of who would go with who in a group of friends! I didn’t mind it st the time but looking back I HATE this idea and definitely could leave kids feeling left out

I agree! I didn't mind them in the beginning of the year, but we are on like week 4! 4 full weeks of having to figure out what to wear for specified days! They did twin day in the first month of kindergarten and I was not happy about it! Dd ended up not doing it. This past week I pretty much gave up.

We almost had twin day - thankfully we didn’t. It was board game day instead.
Just a recipe for disaster - and exclusion!!!

Re: Vent - Twin day at school
Our school just did twin/triplet day last week. I liked that better bc they could do groups of 2 or 3. I could definitely see how someone's feeliings could get hurt.

I agree! I posted about this on another page, my son didn't want to dress up as an old man for 100 day of school. It was such a pain, he ended up waking up that morning sick. I can't stand these days. Who honestly sees the crazy socks? Why do I have to try and do crazy hair when I can barely get them out with normal hair? I can't stand these days!

Vent - Twin day at school
We banned twin day at our school. It is just a recipe for disaster.
I don't mind the dress up days. The kids have fun with it but we only schedule ones that are relatively easy....crazy sock day, inside out day, sports day, school spirit day. The crazy ones like dress up as a character or things that make you go out shopping is uncalled for and a major bother.

Re: Vent - Twin day at school
I would have hated this with a passion as a kid. This would have given me so much anxiety that I’d have nobody to dress up with.

Re: Vent - Twin day at school
They did that at my son's school last year. (Or maybe it was earlier this year - they all run together... ) I did not like it at all. On the school FB page, a lot of parents were complaining about it too. I mean I don't actually have the number of any of the kids in his class - how would we even set it up? He's not often a font of reliable info so I don't know that he could/would do it himself. I don't think he was too concerned which I was glad for because I would have felt so bad if he was upset by it. Just another way to make some kids feel left out and crappy. Like there isn't enough to make them feel that way already.

Honestly, I think I'd be emailing the principal about something like this. In this day and age, they really shouldn't be doing something that could make a child feel left out. It certainly doesn't promote inclusiveness.

Wow! That's annoying! Like everyone has time and money to go out recreating these looks! I can deal with hat day or crazy sock day or mismatch day, but some of these...

What does this mean? You have to dress similar or with the same with another’s child ? Do you have to buy them ? I am not sure what this means?

Yes! The kids pick a friend and they dress the same, do their hair the same, etc. This is in an elementary school 1st - 5th grades. My DS's told me on that Wednesday that Friday is twin day. That Thursday night around 7PM an email was sent out and also posted on the FB page. My 1st grader was cute and picked a good friend in class and they coordinated it themselves. I knew the mom so we went back and forth Thursday afternoon what they'd wear and she came and picked up a Jets Jersey we had two of. My 3rd grader has 3 best friends and 2 said they were doing together and told my DS he didn't have a team Jersey they're wearing. Last min him and another friend decided to twin and we picked a team. MY friend's DD from class was going to twin with a friend and gave her friend her #. My friend never heard from them so the night before she went to bed upset. The teachers were awesome and gave her a matching sticker and said they're twins. It's ridiculous and could hurt a kid's feelings. They can triplet if they want too, but still.
