Vent about constant opinions
I am pregnant with my first, and I can't believe how many people are constantly asking "what will you do if the baby and the cat don't get along", or "cats aren't good with kids", or "what will you do with the cat if he/she's allergic?"
My cat is not an expendable part of my family. They will learn to get along! I will monitor the cat closely in the beginning obviously, but there has never been a question in my mind. I'm not going to bring the baby back, nor am I going to bring my cat back. If the baby is allergic, I will vacuum more!
Sorry. Vent over!!!

Vent about constant opinions
well you know what they say about opinions... LOL
I am so surprised a cat would even cause that much controversy. I thought that only happened to people with big monster dogs :o) Behavior problems can be dealt with and if you and DH are not allergic why would the baby be?

Who knows! lol. One of my relatives actually told me that a cat is worse than any dog because they will climb into the crib and try to suffocate the baby. Really??? Great thing to say to a pregnant lady.
Thanks for listening!

Ignore the idiots who refer to pets in this regard. People like this disgust me.

Yeah and the whole steal their breath myth too. I wouldn't personally let my cat sleep in the crib with my newborn because she does like to sleep on my chest and the cat hair etc. but who lets their cats sleep with their newborn baby anyway? That's what closed doors are for and they have those crib tents things too if you need them. No reason to get rid of the cat just show some common sense. :O)

I have been asked continuously when am I getting rid of my cats and dog. And I have been told that since I'm pg I can't touch my cats. I just look at them like they are crazy tell them my animals are my family and the baby will be fine.

It's very sad that so many people think they need to get rid of their pets when they have a baby. That's probably one of the top 10 reasons/excuses people use for why they give them up. :o(
I had twins and since their birth we have actually added 2 cats and a foster dog LOL.

I have heard that could happen. I wouldn't get too upset over that one. I'm sure they were just trying to make you aware.

Re: Vent about constant opinions
We're not even having a baby, just moving, and people have suggested getting rid of one of our dogs to make it easier. Ridiculous.

I completely agree. I've read SO many stories of people giving up their pets when they're pregnant or have kids and it makes me sick to my stomach.
