Vent about medical supplier & breast pump coverage LONG sorry!
I have Blue Cross Blue Shield and found out that they cover a breast pump at 100% as long as I get it through an in network medical supply co. They will pay the company whatever they consider to be 'reasonable & customary' with no out of pocket expense for me. This included the Medela Freestyle, which is the one I wanted to get.
I found a medical supplier, but just got a call from them saying that they want me to go with the Medela Instyle because the cost of the Freestyle for them is the same amount they'd receive from the insurance company and they wouldn't make a profit. I said no, that I wanted the Freestyle, but they are giving me a really hard time about it.
Is it just me or is it not my problem if they make a profit or not? I know it sounds harsh, but if my insurance covers the Freestyle at 100% for in-network providers and this company IS an in-network provider, why should I settle for a different model than the one I want?
I guess this post doesn't really have a point, just a way for me to vent my frustration. If you've made it this far, thanks for listening!!!
I guess the logical thing would be to look for a different medical supplier....great

Was it Edge Park that you called? I have Blue Cross Blue Sheild too and the insurance company told me to call edge park. They sent my freestyle within 2 days with no problems.

No, it was Apria Healthcare in Plainview....I didn't see Edge Park on the list of in network suppliers....do you happen to have their contact info? Apria was telling me it would take two weeks to get the pump!

I have empire bc/bs too. I placed an order through edgepark and got the freestyle.
You can call them and place the order. They were great!

Their profit is not your concern! If they keep giving you a hard time find a new supplier! I used Edge Park and had no problem getting the freestyle.
