VENT: I have no motivation to do anything!!!
I was supposed to spend my summer concentrating on my dissertation proposal, but I've barely done anything. I sleep until 10 or 11 every day that I don't have something to do, and then I spend hours wasting time online and watching soaps. Granted, all the stuff that has gone on with my family this summer has taken a toll on my time to get things done, but there are so many days where I could have accomplished a lot. I can't believe it's already August and I start my internship in a few weeks and lose all of my free time that I'm wasting away.
It's 1:30 in the afternoon, and I'm still in my pajamas...I have an apartment that needs to be cleaned and a dissertation that desperately needs to be worked on, but I'd rather sit here posting and watching TV than doing anything else. I feel so guilty every time I do this, but I just can't get motivated.
Part of the problem with the dissertation is that I hate doing research and honestly have no desire to be doing one, but I do want my doctorate eventually.
Thanks for listening to me whine!

See, the more people tell me to screw work, the more I listen, and the more I put off my dissertation!
I'm looking forward to Monday, but first I have a mets game sunday night!

I understand completely!!
I find that the more "free time" I have, the lazier I get.
But if my schedule is jammed packed I get LOTS more done.
Something in my brain tells me to slack off if there is only one thing I really need to do - no matter how important it is!!

Same here. When I've been in the middle of semester, with classes and an internship, and tons of work to do at home, I can find time to get everything done and have a social life. I just run around like a lunatic and don't sleep. Now that I have all the time in the world, I can't accomplish anything!

I hear ya!!
This summer my goal was to finish up my
NJ and NY teaching certifications and start working on my porfolio for student teaching..Haven't started or done a thing...I can't get myself motivated AT ALL!!!

This is soooooo true...
Jackie, give yourself a break. Its so hot outside, it breeds laziness. Besides, you worked SO hard for your internship... its understandable you need to decompress (and also based on all the things that happened with your grandma and dad too, emotionally its been an exhausting time for you
your body is just telling you that its time to "slack" a bit now .. so no guilt!!
