Vent Regarding Miscarriage-update
One of my co-workers thinks she's experiencing a mc. She had her pregnancy confirmed Monday via ultrasound and began bleeding that night experiencing cramping and still is to this day.
When she called her OB they said you're having a miscarriage. Without sonogram or bloodwork how can they just Dx that over the phone. I recommend that she has a tech do a quick sonogram just to make sure. It boggles mind that they will make that presumption without examining her. Update: So I suggested to her to go to her doctor for another Beta check to see if her numbers were rising; she did. They told her that her beta was 8k that she's preggo but to come in for an emergency sono. She goes then text me that the baby isn't viable they will give her a pill to complete the miscarriage process. I told her once this process is complete you need to find a new doc ASAP.

Re: Vent Regarding Miscarriage
That is ridiculous. With my second loss I started bleeding and they moved up my appt, we saw a heartbeat and they told me all was OK. then the bleeding picked up and I called again and they told me everything was likely fine but i could come back again if it would help reassure me. sadly things didnt work out but I do know many people who bled and had healthy pregnancies. You need a sono before dx anything

Vent Regarding Miscarriage
That is insane. I've heard of women who were told in the ER that they were miscarrying then went to the doctor to follow up and the tech looked stunned, like what? The baby is right there.

That's what I was trying to tell her that you may not be miscarrying but she is convinced that she is.

Poor thing! She needs to be seen asap. Just to verify! The cramping makes it more likely that it is a mc, but if she was able to confirm it, not to be so gross, but there would be more to it than just blood, if you kwim?

Vent Regarding Miscarriage-update
When I had my mc I started bleeding and cramping. When it didn't stop I knew. I didn't have to be a dr to figure out what was going but I'm surprised they would just say this over the phone. My dr,had me come I. That for a sono. Was she able to be seen? I'd consider changing docs if I were her...
