Vericose/Spider Vein Help
Hey All,
I was asked last night to be in my friends wedding in May 2008. She wants tea-length dresses which is cool. Here is my dilema. I have tons of vericose & spider veins on my calves from years as a waitress PLUS they run in my family. Is there a cream I can purchase to reduce the purpleness of them?? I obviously can't afford surgery so I would be interested in purchasing something over the counter. I could wear stockings but its in May and she would like sandal kinda shoes for the girls. Luckily I have plenty of time so if I used something every night it could reduce them a lot. Thanks in advance.

I really don't think many creams out there work. Laser would probably be your best bet.

I don't know of any creams for that.
Can you use a tanning cream or going tanning to hide them?

yea but LASER is a lot of $$$. I may go to Ulta and see. I know they make cellulite cream to reduce it a tad so I'm sure they make something out there to just smooth the area and reduce the purpleness (ie blotchyness).

Re: Vericose/Spider Vein Help
I have some spider veins on one of my legs and I've used cover up. It doesn't cover it completely, but it helps.

oooh, I never thought of cover up. DO they sell large sizes of body cover-up? I have A LOT of veins on my calves and I have large calves to begin with.

I use physicans formula. It's not a large suppy. But maybe you can try some of the make-up counters in the mall.

Oh that's a seperate issue. I have a tattoo on my left upper breast that I know this bride will want me to cover-up (which is cool because I covered it up for my wedding). I will def. be buying dermablend for that so maybe I'll just try a sample on my veins. I like that dermablend doesn't rub off.

I think they also sell some sort of an airbrush makeup (sally hanson in drugstores) that could cover it.

Re: Vericose/Spider Vein Help
Just lasers--sclerotherapy. Most derm offices have them. Treatment is expensive. I don't have the bulgy blue kind, but on one outer thigh I have a few purple ones that annoy me...I was thinking of having them lasered. DH thinks I'm nuts and no one even notices them, but if it bothers you, it bothers you.

it doesn't bother me because I usually wear skirts with stockings and I hate shorts (I only wear capris). But since I'm in a wedding, I don't want them showing too much.
I can't really afford lazer, especially since I know they will get worse with age (based on all the women in my family).
Thanks anyway

Go tanning...or apply self tanner. There is a product called Air Stocking (Sephora) that you spray on...works great.

Re: Vericose/Spider Vein Help
How expensive is the laser? I thought that it has come down in price in recent years. Also, if you want to just fade them, it may be less $$ than if you wanted to be really picky and do it until they disappear.
