Verizon or Optimum
What do you use for your phone/internet/cable? I currently use Optimum and I'm not thrilled with it? Is Verizon better?

We use Verizon for phone/DSL and Direct TV for cable.
I hate Cablevision, would never use Optimum.

If Verizon FIOS is available in your area, definitely look into it. I personally would not switch from cable to Verizon for DSL though. Nor would I go with IP phones just yet.

FIOS (Verizon) is only avaiable to a small percentage of LI....prices are compareable to both packages.
Cablevision is likly your only choice though unless you are lucky.
You other choice is satilite and you would still do phone/internet via CV or VZ

I hate verizon. I had their DSL and I hated it. I have Road RUnner and FH has Optimum and we love both

If you have FIOS in your area definately get it.
For us it's Verizon all the way.
Then again I am a little biased since DH is a FIOS tech for Verizon

I have Optimum and IMO, it's the only reason to stay with Cablevision.
it's SO FAST! and rarely goes down.

I use Optimum for all three and have for a number of years. I haven't had any problems and like it very much.

We have had optimum online for the internet for close to 6 years and didn't have any problems until recently.
Their first level support is only trained to get you back online, not to figure out what caused the outage. Our problem was intermittent so it was difficult to get them to fix.
After replacing the modem and calling 3x, we finally got a tech to come out. He didn't find a problem but replaced the splitter and the intermittent problems have been less since then. But it's still slow during peak periods (like now).
We had to upgrade to iO also and for a couple of months, that was flaky too.
We looked into Verizon Fios but it's not available in our area yet. We wouldn't do DSL.

i agree - we're talking about going with cablevision for the phone service too - our verizon bill came today ( phone only ) and it went up 22 dollars.
