Very confused , can someone explain things to me
I feel like the RE office assumes that I know what's going on but I am so confused. NO one explained anything to me and they keep just giving me appointments.
After I had the bad reaction to Clomid, I started another drug. I started that on Monday. I had an appt this morning for blood and sonogram. They said there is one follie that they were able to measure but they need to track it so I have to go back in on Tue.
They also told me to buy an OPK and do that tomorrow morning.
I'm just so confused. What do they look for on the sonogram? Am I supposed to have one follie or more? What is the OPK for? and why do I have to start that now if I have to go back in on Tue.?
I'm sorry for all these questions. But I'm so confused. I would have asked the doc, but she was not in this morning.

Re: Very confused , can someone explain things to me
Im a little confused too......I have been to two different RE's and not one of them told me to take my own OPK's. It just doesnt make sense. Thats why you are going there.......to be monitored by bloodwork and sonos.
As far as the follies, you can have any number. Its whatever your body will produce on Clomid or whatever it is you are taking. You can have one mature one....or end up having 2 or 3?
On Tuesday, they will be able to see if your follicle has grown/matured. If it is at the "mature" size on Tuesday; they will probably have you take Ovidrel which is a shot in your belly to "force" your body to ovulate in order to time IUI correctly......(if that is what you are doing)? Or is it a natural cycle??
You can take the OPK........to play it safe........but IMO, I dont really think its that necessary. But, of course, Im not DR.

you prob had a small follie. they track it to see if it matures. although i HATE when doctors rely on you to use OPKs, they will have you use that to see if you're going to ovulate at any point before you go back for your appt. are you doing IUI this cycle? one follie is all you need. everyones reaction is different - but you should have between 1-4 if you are on a medicated cycle. IMO ANY follies from clomid/femara-like meds is a good sign. those meds did absolutely nothing for me.

Re: Very confused , can someone explain things to me
The sono is to check the size of the follie or follies. Its also to make sure cysts haven't developed that may cause problems.
I don't think 1 follie is bad as long as its size is good, which is what they are doing with the sonos - 1 follie gives you less chance of multiples
My RE (Hershlag) had me use OPKs to test for ovulation incase I Oed before I came back in for a check up.
In my case, I did get a the morning I went in for a check up, so that appointment turned into IUI # 1.
I had a 2nd the following morning and we did the IUI that day too.
I'm currently
I wish you lots of luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
