very lovey dovey cats ? your experiences?

So, things have been going well with our new cat. She's so sweet.

I've had cats all my life and I'm noticing she does things that my other cats never did:

She greets us at the door, will follow me from room to room (even the bathroom!) and if I end up sitting somewhere or get involved in a task, she lays near me, as if keeping me company.

She also will lay on her back and rub herself all over the floor. Chat Icon

Do you have a lovey cat?

I never experienced this, so it's odd to me. My former cats (except for one) were always kind of divas.....and moody.Chat Icon

I've never really met a cat like that until my BIL moved into our basement. His cat, Dexter, was the biggest mush! And ironically, the biggest mush with our dog, Irwin. Everyone said they wouldn't be friends, but they turned out to be BFF. Chat Icon

My cat can be mushy, but not all the time like yours. My friend's cats are JUST like your cat. They follow her everywhere! I think some cats are like dogs... they just can't imagine life without being near their best friend.

My first kitty, Sushi, is not a lovey dovey cat...she is typically a b!tch most of the timesChat Icon

My second cat, Miso, though thinks he is a dog. He follows me everywhere...trips me all the time...wont let me go to the bathroom in peace and would let me hold him for hours if I let him. While he is not a lap cat per se, he sits right next to me. If I am laying on the couch, the minute my feet hit the floor he is on top of me. I love my big, fat, lovey dovey kitty. But I APPRECIATE Sushi's lovin' more sometimes because most times it is so unexpectedChat Icon

We have a six month old kitten, I found him with his 3 brothers when they were about two weeks old. Some jerk dumped them in a feral cat colony that I help take care of.
They still needed to be bottle fed because they were so small and I spent a lot of time handling all four of them during the three months I had the whole litter.
Our boy Tommy is very clingy, he loves cuddle time with me, DH or the dog Chat Icon he loves to be in th bathroom with me and he follows me around. As we speak I'm standing in my kitchen and he's laying at my feet.
I have stayed in touch with the people that adopted his three brothers and they say they are super snuggly too.

I had a cat when I was a kid that was totally antisocial, she hated all people. She tolerated me, but preferred to be outside hunting. So when I found the kittens I was determined to make them like human interaction by handling them. I think it worked

Our cat is like that! She can't get enough of us...always wants to be near us, and she's so obviously thrilled every time we pay attention to her. She rollls around on the floor a lot too! Chat Icon She's an outside cat, so when we're not home, she sits on the front porch waiting for us and as soon as we pull into the driveway she comes running down the sidewalk to meet us Chat Icon

Our cat Lenny can be mushy, but only when he feels like it. 9 times out of ten, he will let me pick him up and pet him for about a minute and then wiggle down but first thing in the am, he will sit on my lap for an hour purring and wanting to be pet. My cat growing up though was the biggest mush ever, she was my shadow

My cats are super lovey dovey. They always jump on our laps and sit with us. A couple of them will sit on our shoulders like a little bird from time to time. A couple of them (this is probably going to sound so odd!) wag their tails and lick us when they're happy. They also like to be held like little babies with their heads cradled in our arms.

They LOVE to sleep with us, and they sleep on our heads, pillows, etc. One of them even likes to come under the covers. Last night he was under the covers with his head poking out, and his little face was lying right on my chest. So cute.

Re: very lovey dovey cats ? your experiences?

In my life I had 2 male cats. They both were my BF but to others not so much. My new kitty is a female and forget it, she's all over everyone. Haven't a clue if it's because a "she" or I just lucked out.

Oh I know!
My first cat was one step above feral.
We couldn't even hold her, pick her up, she would growl, hiss and bite us.

The cats I have now- COMPLETE opposites.
They are like dogs.
Loving, sweet, affectionate, we can do ANYTHING to them. We clip their nails all the time. NOt once have they hissed at us, put out a claw, tried to bite.
And my DD is aggresive with them too- and they just run away from her...never once have they gone after her.

I always say I want to clone these two!!! Chat Icon

THIS is my cat. Completely why I named him Woof. I got him when I was single and the men I dated always joked around that he thought he was my boyfriend. He was soooo jealous of any man at my apartment. He would steal there stuff all the time. It was funny. Woof greets us at the door, wrestles with the dogs and meows at the door when he wants to go out on our enclosed porch. He also does "Uppies" when he wants me to pick him up. He has to be nose to nose when you are petting him (makes it hard to see the TV) but we love him.

Our DS beats up our male cat all the time and not only does he not scratch him or bite him but he won't even move! I feel bad for him, I always have to get DS off of him, I wish he would just run into the other room or something when he sees DS coming lol!

Re: very lovey dovey cats ? your experiences?

I have mushy cats, but one is mushier than the other. The big mush always has to sit near me. I'm home for a good part of the day as I work partly from home, and she is always near me. She sleeps with me by my stomach and everything! She couldn't for a few months b/c I broke my shoulder and needed a pillow there, but now I don't, and she is making up for lost time. It's like she is an extension of me.

The other is mushy when he wants to knead, then he is super lovey dovey!
