Very Scared to Change Belly Ring...Please Help

Has anyone changed their stainless steel belly ring to a maternity one? I have to do this soon and am pretty uncomfortable with it. I haven't touched my ring since it was pierced more than 14 years ago. Can I do this by myself?

I actually went back to the tattoo parlor that pierced me with my 8 month preggo belly and asked them to take it out. I told them I was nervous it would close up and he said he doubted that would happen but it would be his baby gift to me to re-pierce it after I gave birth if it did close. I never really got my figure back and was too to go back. I haven't even tried to put it back in myself
