Very worried-lump in neck

My doctor found a lump in my neck. I went for an ultrasound and the aren't sure what it is. It had fluid and solid parts. I now have to get a biopsy.
Anyone have any experience with this?
I am really nervous

I don't have experience with this exactly, but I did have a growth on my kidney that they didn't know what it was for the same reason. It wasn't a simple cyst b/c it had lots of solid divisions in it, but it turned out it was a complex benign cyst.
It's possible this is the same kind of thing. Chat Icon

My FIL had a mystery lump on his neck & it was also a cyst.

Good luck--try & relax! I know, it's hard, but you are having it tested so there isn't much else you can do you & worrying isn't going to change anything. ( I had to tell myself that often when I waited 2 weeks for an MRI last summer.)

Thank you for your response. I keep telling myself the same thing but it's difficult. Glad you are well.

I just had this done last month. My Dr found 2 lumps in my nect, one on each side and I had to go for the sono and then fine needle biopsy. I would suggest you take someone with you to drive...I felt lightheaded when it was done. They had me stay for a bit after because of that and gave me water and cookie to get my sugar back up. Also, make sure wherever you go to get your biopsy, that they have someone in the room checking to see that they retrieved enough cells. I hope all turns out well for you!

They ended up having to do it twice on me that day because the first time they didn't get enough cells. So I had a total of 4 needles that day. When my Dr called me a couple days later, she said that they didn't get enough cells the 2nd time to give me a definite answer yes or no. Now I have to wait 3 months and then get a repeat sono to see if they have grown. If they did, then dr said we will discuss our options then. It's very nerve wrecking but I just have to try and relax and hope for the best.
