Can anyone recommend a vet in or near Smithtown?

ours is right in hauppauge and he is the absolute best!
his name is dr. marc gurtman
we have been seeing him for years -- before, he was at commack animal hospital. then, he got his own practice: townline vet group
they do things very different there -- it's all about caring and the animal. i love him, char loves him, reagan loves him and they actually enjoy vet visits!

This is where we go, and we also see Gurtman, and I cannot say enough positive things about him and the practice. We did a training class there too, and my dog LOVES going to the vet now because she associates it with her friends!

wow! never realized how many other people go to Dr. Gurtman as well... just the other day we got an updated phone book and his AD was right on the cover! then, two of our neighbors said they go to him as well! 
and can we just talk about how adorable he is??

I went to him because of you, Dani.  I wasn't completely happy with my old vet and when you posted about his new practice, I checked him out. The next time we had to go in for a checkup, we tried their office and never looked back. He's already gone above and beyond, and even the office staff is knowledgeable and so nice.
By the way - not to go completely off topic - but I heard the Tic Tock is under new ownership. I haven't gone back since the whole ASPCA situation, so if it's true, I'll be very happy for the option again.

Wow! That's great!! I always recommend him because I love him so much but I never really think anyone will go - so glad you did and that you are happy with him and the practice!
We just came back from a cruise and Charlotte and Reagan were there during our vaca -- we were nervous because of other bad boarding experiences but they were GREAT! Wow, the dogs actually benefitted from staying there. Char and Reagan stayed behind the counter with the receptionists and hung out all day! It's so nice to not feel bad about going away!!
Oh wow - I didn't know that about the Tic-Toc. Maybe give it another try? It could very well be that they switched owners - that place has been up and down for a long time.

That's good to know... We'll be taking a long vacation next year and I'm looking into options now. Thanks again for the recco, it's really important to me to have a great vet for my babies. 
I went to Tic Toc this morning and asked. The old owner comes in to bake once a week, but that's it. The place looks the same, the food was ok.
