Victorias Secret Question about Male Sales Associates?
I was shopping in VS and there was one woman at the register, ringing up a ton of people and One male associate on the floor.
Now i had some questions on finding stuff, and i had one of those coupons and wanted to ask someone about what its for, and find sizes.
Now I felt really uncomfortable asking a 20 year old guy to find my bra size, color etc.
Am I uptight? I know they can't discriminate, i just found it uncomfortable asking a guy for help with bras and underwear.

that's a tough one.
They can't discriminate. I actually think it was a bold move.
Was he good at his job? Did you feel his skills were up to par?
Personally I wouldn't care but I could see why someone would.

I walked around the store for 20 minutes, and ended up leaving, i just couldn't bring myself to ask him questions and have him go and look for my bra size/color combo i wanted.
I left empty handed
So i never really got the chance to see if his skills were up to par because i felt to uncomfortable to ask for help

Maybe he would make men who are shopping for lingerie for their women feel more comfortable? Although the vast majority of people shopping there are always women!

Re: Victorias Secret Question about Male Sales Associates?
I personally don't see this as any different than a guy who works in a store that sells for both men and women. What if you wanted something from the Gap Body collection and the only sales assoc. was a guy?
That being said, when I was shopping for new jeans in the Gap last year, I was helped by a very cute young sales guy and felt embarrassed telling him my size but then he turned out to be THE best sales guy who helped me find a pair of jeans that fit and were flattering.
If you seriously felt self conscious, tell him you need to try a few sizes on for the best fit.

I have no shame. It's not like the guy is touching me.
I see no difference than buying tampons and going to a male cashier (that's even better! ).
The only issue I might have is that the guy might not be able to relate to what I am asking. Like "is it comfortable?", "does it offer good support?", etc... How is he going to relate to my questions. KWIM?

it is indeed awkward. i worked at a boutique for men and women once as a mgr and i know a lot of men were uncomfy talking to me about their jeans size - if they were too thin or husky.
it's like when i go to the doc and they have a student there learning, sometimes i don't want them hearing my sordid details or see me in the buff.

I am not a fan but I guess we cannot do much about it.
Same way i felt the first time a guy did my pedicure. I think he got a tad more enjoyment out of it than he should have and I felt violated

Re: Victorias Secret Question about Male Sales Associates?
I can see where you're coming from. I would feel awkward about that too. Ultimately I think it would depend on how badly I wanted the bra or panties... if I didn't care that much I probably wouldn't ask. If it was something important to me though, I would just ask the guy for my size/color!

The last time I went to VS at Walt Whitman mall there was a guy sales associate working. My friend and I were totally skeeved when he asked us if we we wanted help looking for our panty size. We left the store without buying anything.

I don't think I've ever seen a male associate in VS. I would feel the same way as you but if i really needed something I would just suck it up and ask.

I saw that guy the other weekend and he was all eager to help with the "Looking for anything special, today." He was nice, but I was really uncomfortable with it! I don't want to ask for my size or even hand him my purchases to ring up. Maybe I'm old fashioned here

Re: Victorias Secret Question about Male Sales Associates?
I noticed this the last time I was at VS in the Queens center mall. I hardly ever ask for help. If I can't find it myself, I usually leave it at that. The last time I went, I found my bra and picked up a few lacy thongs and went to check out. Well, my luck..it was a guy ringing up at the counter. I felt really weird about him wrapping up my thongs. Oh well...
