IMO, Sony for digital video cameras. I have an Olympus dig. camera that I looooooooooove (EP320, now on sale at Circiut City for $199), but I'd feel comfortable with a Canon, Nikon or Kodak, too.

I have the new touch screen Sony Cybershot with 8.1 megapixels. It takes great video and wonderful pics.

If you're not looking to spend a ton of money, then my hubby suggests Panasonic cameras. We have one just for stuff with the baby, and we love it so far. I trust him, as he is in film/television and usually knows what he's talking about. (Key word...USUALLY )

I have to look at the model number when I go home, but I have the new Kodak Easy Share Camera that came out. It takes awesome pictures.

a photo camera taking movies is not the same as a ditigal camcorder....and vice versa...
while each product will do both, the ablitles to do the 2nd item are reduced greatly.....
so, if you buy a dv camcorder, taking photos will be like a 2 - 3 mp picture...
and taking video on a camera, you will not be able to capture good detail and lenght with record part.
i have both, camera and camcorder... Canon camera and sony mini dv camcorder..
ask questions if you have a particular model in mind you were looking at and what is your main use for the device, pictures or record video
