Villa Roma Resort-or closeby resorts ?

Has anyone stayed at the Villa Roma ? Would love to hear anything positive or negative about it.

Interested in any nearby suggestions for resort type hotel. Anything aside from Lancaster area (I go there often).

The resort has to offer suite-like rooms since I have 3 kids under 3. Trying to go away with a group.

Mohonk is out of our price range.

Thanks in advance Chat Icon

I've been going to Villa Roma for at least 15 years with my family.

It's definitely great for kids and adults. There was a fire there a few years ago and they rebuilt the entire resort..it's absolutely gorgeous now!

Do you have any specific questions?

Being that all the rooms have full kitchens we normally cook our own food. We go with about 30 people. One night someone will cook for everyone and we all go to their "unit" for dinner.

What time of year were you planning on going?

They have a main dining room which is quite expensive..you can purchase a meal plan. (I belive it's Breakfast & Dinner)

They have an outdoor snack bar which serves all types of finger foods, ice cream, pizza, etc.

They have a seafood bar which is pretty awesome!

They also have a restaurant inside which is really good and relatively inexpensive. That's where we go for lunch most days.

There's horseback riding, race car track, rock climbing wall and bumper boats.

They have a camp for children so that may be beneficial for you.

There are so many pools (indoor & outdoor) and an amazing giant hot tub for adults only.

Every morning they slip an itinerary under your door which is packed with sooooo many fun things to do!

At night for adults they have shows and a really nice bar/lounge.

My parents have 2 timeshares there and we've been going for about 10 yrs now... IMO, it pays to just try to rent out someone TS instead of staying in the hotel... The hotel is expensive (and they charge prices like that bc nothing else is around)... You will get 2 meals a day if you stay in the hotel though... Otherwise, you can either cook in the TS, buy the meals to eat in the dining room for a set fee, or just go into town for food...

The pool area is great for kids and adults... and there is bowling, go karts, arcade etc ... so def other things to do... Shows are fun at night... Comedians are usually good (until you start going year after yr and they bring up the same comedians with the same acts... Chat Icon )

All n all, its prob safe to say that you will have a good time there...

Re: Villa Roma Resort-or closeby resorts ?

Thanks for the feedback regarding the Villa Roma. My family went. I definitely think the hotel can be fun for adults, since the entertainment was suprisingly good. Our two bedroom suite was spacious and clean. However, having three young kids it wasn't that ideal. The resort is situated in the middle of nowhere. The ride up was so beautiful but when we arrived at the resort, there wasn't any "country type " grounds to really hangout with the kids. There was a playground for kids but more like 10 year olds, it was situated right on a road where cars drive by and near a pond they called a lake.

Dinner was so crowded, and waitstaff, barstaff are under staffed. My kids had to wait about an hour before they could get the only child menu item...chicken fingers. (they served adults a few courses so my kids were getting antsy).

The worst part was what went on at the table next to us. There was a large family sitting down to dinner, when all of a sudden one adult brother (maybe 25 years old) started cursing loudly at his other brother (again twenty something). The father then, slapped the loud brother across the face and screamed another profanity. The brother that was 'slapped' decided to call his brother a few choice words that just set him off. The "quiet' brother slammed the "loud" one down on the ground while he was in his chair, and decided to hold him down with a fist to his face, yelling. My daughter was in a high chair about 5 inches from this ridiculous event. They called in undercover security guy, they broke it up. The brothers had to leave for about 10 minutes and then the entire family returned and ate !!!!!!

I think I am going to stick to Lancaster for our future quick getaways lol
