Viral Rash - Help

Took DS to PM Ped on Sunday with a head to toe rash - looked like a raised sunburn. The PA said it was a viral rash. They did a rapid strep test to make sure it wasn't that - came back negative.

Now, she told me it takes about 24/48 hours for the rash to go away. It's 48 hours and he still has some of it. It has gotten better, but it's still there. Now I think I remember reading on here that some peds say it can take 5 days. Just wondering if anyone has any experience w/ it.

Thanks!

My DS had one as well.....Funny you mentioned strep as he had the rash right after I was diagnosed with strep but did not test positive. I thought it was odd....

DS rash looked spotty/splotchy but not raised and it went away mostly within 48 hours. You could still see a little bit of it for a few days after that, just like you are describing.

Hope your little guy feels better soon!!

I actually just went and checked again before I called the ped and the rash is practically gone now. It's sooo weird.

Thanks everyone!
