vision therapy
Anyone's child go to vision therapy? Just wondering where you went, how much it cost, how often/how long your child went, etc.
DD is saying that sometimes when she reads, the words are "jumbled up" on the page. I'm a bit concerned.
TIA!

Re: vision therapy
Does she have dyslexia? My son has dyslexia. We live in NJ and had testing done at the Morristown Goyreb Children's hospital. Your school district can offer testing. We paid OOP and it was over $1000. I believe NYU also offers testing. A friend of ours had her daughter tested and needed vision therapy. It was a specialist visit, for a few visits and then she needed glasses.

Re: vision therapy
Have you started with an ophthalmologist for a vision screening?

Re: vision therapy
She's just been to the eye doctor at Visionworks - to test her acuity. It was fine.

Then she saw an optometrist. You need her to be evaluated by an ophthalmologist.

This. I used the ones at Stonybrook- the Commack office though- they are pediatric ophthalmologists and they were great.Very thorough

Re: vision therapy
MY DC just "graduated" from vision therapy. It has been a life saver!!
We went for 1 off visit per week ($175 per visit) and did homework at home (exercises) 3-4x per week.
VT will help without a doubt. However, for what she is describing (jumbled words) you should look into Syntonics light therapy. Go see Dr. Shapiro in NYC (he's one of the few Dr. in NY that offers Syntonics). After the initial visit in NYC you will be able to do everything at home. The office visit is expensive, but it includes the equipment. The beautiful thing about syntonics is you get results rather quickly (depending on the severity) and you won't have to go for weekly visits (which will save you money). I bet she'll start to see improvements within a month.
We also did Syntonics for 30 days. All it is is wearing colored glasses and looking into a light for 20 mins a day. It's amazing how it works!!
Feel free to PM me with any details or concerns.

She should go for a comprehensive eye exam by a CVOD. Acuity has nothing to do with seeing jumbled words, double vision, moving words, etc.
