Visiting Washington DC

My DH planned a quick weekend trip to DC in May. Just us and our 12YO DD. I'm not even sure what's fully open yet (reading conflicting things online)- but would love to hear recommendations- must sees/restaurants, etc.
TIA!

Re: Visiting Washington DC

Well since the White House just lifted their restrictions, I am thinking all is ok to visit there now with no issue.

My husband and son went to DC this past summer. Everything was pretty much open. All the Smithsonian museums are free to visit

It so weird, because some websites say stuff if open and then some say closed. Did you get a tour of the whitehouse? I think that part is closed.

I know in the past you had to apply for the tour of the white house way ahead of time- for security purposes... but now I am not even sure you can go inside the white house at all

Re: Visiting Washington DC

The sculpture garden at the National Gallery of Art is cool. Not sure when it starts or if they are having it this year but they used to do free concerts on Friday nights in the summer. There is a cafe there too that has wine, sangria, etc.

She might like to walk around Georgetown and get cupcakes at Baked and Wired - so good. There are tons of great restaurants over there. We went to Clyde's and it was very good.

We did the duck tour a few years ago and they let the kids steer the boat in the Potomac for a few seconds. That was cute.
