Vitamin suggestion for 16 month old- hates the liquid stuff

Jacen has only 8 teeth. We have the liquid vitamins, but he HATES them with a passion and as soon as he sees them coming, mouth is shut closed tight!

I got the gummy vitamins but they were even hard for me to chew.

Any suggestions?

can you put it in his sippy? maybe his morning one, or whichever one you know he'll finish.

I know he already hates it when he sees it coming, but have you tried flavoring them? Anthony had them cherry flavored and fought them. We switched to grape and now he opens his mouth as soon as I say "vitamin time!" Target has a bunch of different flavors and flavor combinations.

He has the poly-visol as well. I think it's pretty strong no matter what, but the flavoring they add must mask it enough. You can ask your regular pharmacist to flavor it, I think most have basic flavors. When I went to Target, they offered to flavor it. I thought they would tell me the basics when I asked what they had, and they gave me a MENU!!!

Christopher is 2.5 and the ped has NEVER mentioned vitamins to us.

So, I think it doesn't matter and wait til he can chew the chewy ones

yes i did! She's so cute, so tiny and i LOVED holding her (and giving her back). She looks very similar to Bella.

Nope. He was my ped too and my mom said he didn't really push them when we were kids either. I keep meaning to get the gummy ones....any day now

Oooh!! Ang and I are roadtripping tomorrow! I am PSYCHED!!!

Yup

Yeah, Chris had to go back to work tonight, so we all came back (C3 and I went to the GTG today) and I am going back out tomorow, but coming home after...

Although we will be in Montauk at the end of next week, maybe we all should get together or something...

Did I mention my psycho husband is into fishing lately?

Nina got a prescription for vitamins at 6 months. She hates them with a passion. At 19 months she has had them maybe 6 times.

We sneak it into his cup. He hates them also but drinks the full cup.

We changed to chewables at like a year. Not gummie, hard like Flintstone vitamins. My DS loves them, thinks they are candy and tries to steal more than one every day!! Its worth a try... I would send you some if you dont want to get a presc. filled just to try them out!!!

I mix them with his milk in his sippy. There is NO way he would ever take them otherwise Ped said it was fine and the vitamin box and insert says you can mix with anything and doesn't say anything about not mixing with milk. At his 2 yr visit ped gave us a script for the chewables so will try that soon and see how it goes.

My DD hates her meds too, so we always sneak them in her sippy cups the Dr told me I dont care how she takes them.

Well he is almost 2 1/2 now but I started giving them to him more than a year ago. He probably had btwn 8 and 12 at the time I started. He really liked the chewables and kind of nibbled them with his front teeth!! I always had a hard time with him with the liquid so I figured it was worth a try to give the chewables.

i had dropper ready and once his mouth opened i would pull it out of hiding and ram into his mouth pointing to his cheek.
