Vitamins are making me gag
So, I think at this point I am psyching myself out but when I go to take either my omega 3 pill or prenatal vitamin, I gag on it before it goes down. This gagging starts a process I guess because within a few minutes of gagging, I am throwing up. It doesn't happen all the time but it has happened enough that now I get scared when I pop the pills. I try to wait a while after eating to take them (I take my prenatal at bedtime). Any suggestions on what I can do to stop gagging or stop being scared to take pills. Thanks.

If you think its all psychological, try thinking of the vitamins as crucial to the baby. Maybe that positive thought will get you through it. If its a physical side effect, I have no idea.

I know my prenatals are like horse pills. If yours are big, it may be what's causing the gag reflex. Try cutting it in half and just taking each half separately - it might help.

THis has happened to me. It sounds silly, but if I try really hard to not to think about the pills when they are going down, that sometimes helps. Try to think about something else while u are swallowing them, or have the TV on or something distracting.

The past week I have been trying to think of others things while taking them. It is not easy. I wish I could cut them in half but I am afraid I would taste it more this way and that would make me gag. I can't believe this is causing me problems. I have never had any trouble swallowing pills. This just started a few weeks ago.

my Dr. prescribed chewable prenatals Kind of taste like Vit. C...no GIANT horse pill to swallow, maybe ask for those.

I got chewables. No matter how badly I wanted to take the pills, I could not get them down. DH actually had to heimlich maneuver me at one point.
