My friend's GF works here, and they are in 11th place nationwide, and 1st in NY. With LIF behind them, they could be 1st in the country....

Who We Are
The SBU Cat Network is an organization of student, staff, and faculty volunteers at Stony Brook University, formed two years ago to help hundreds of homeless cats on the SBU campus. ***BECAUSE WE ARE A SMALL, GRASSROOTS NETWORK OF INDIVIDUALS, WE REGRET THAT WE CANNOT SHELTER OR PLACE CATS FROM THE LARGER COMMUNITY. Save-A-Pet, Rte 112, ¼ mile north of Rte 347, Port Jefferson, NY 631-473-6333*** As is true for many universities around the country, the campus is home to generations of descendants of cats that were dumped by their owners and that are now feral. For kittens young enough to be socialized, we foster them and find homes. For older cats that seem to be irrevocably feral, we follow the standard practice of humanely trapping, neutering, and vaccinating them, and then re-releasing them back into their colonies. Colonies are given fresh food and water every day by our volunteers; small wooden shelters located at several points around campus house some of the cats. In addition to the wonderful people who decide to adopt a cat, The Cat Network desperately needs cat food, wooden shelters, temporary foster homes, financial donations, and volunteers.
