WAHOOO!! One down!
We were just preapproved by Chase!
awaiting the letter now.
it's for the exact amount I requested, but can be raised if we need to make a higher offer.
I am so excited. 
we got 6.25 for a 30-year fixed, lower than what they are advertising on their website.
We are still shopping around though. but at least we know we have something!!!!

we got the same rate from Chase for the same type of loan (30 year fixed).
good luck!
We had a friend in the mortgage business scoping out rates for us for weeks and this was the best he could find, so i think this might be the lowest you'll get.
