let him sleep. DD is nearly 6 weeks old and our ped always told us once DD gained her birth weight back there was no need to wake her to feed her. she's slept for 5 hour stretches without waking up to eat, and that means i get to sleep for 5 hours too. if your baby is hungry, he will wake up to eat.

I always woke both my kids when it was time to eat if they were already sleeping for 3-4 hours. The only time I didn't was if it was during the night. It will help get them on a schedule and help them sleep through the night.

Re: Wake a 7 wk. old to eat?

I always woke DS during the day if he went more then 3 hours without eating. The BF video and book I read said to wake a baby to eat every2- 3 hours during the day, and to never wake them during the night. To just let them wake you up when they are hungry. Which didn't matter because my DS never made it more then 4 hours anyway.
