Walking in heels
Today I reflected on all of the things I've heard about girls who can't walk in high heels... all of the FB statuses about it... and I've come to realize, I am THAT girl. I almost just broke my ankle walking into Staples wearing heels that are not higher than 3 inches.

Re: Walking in heels
My problem is not so much balancing in them, etc- I only go up to 4 inches TOPS. But I find that my foot is always sliding forward and they feel like they are falling off the back. I have to use those heel grip things all the time

Walking in heels
I used to wear them all the time but for the past couple of years, i've been more about the comfort and flat riding boots. When I try to wear them now, I look like a mongoloid.

I am so unstable in a thin heel it's not even funny. Forget escalators - I wont even attempt them with heels on. Omg especially not that terrible one... when you get off the E train at that stop...that terrible stop... where the escalator is like 700 stories up... omg i'm sweating

OMG is it Lexington Ave? That one? That is the death escalator. It's so steep you get a nose bleed going up!! There was once a woman attempting to maneuver a STROLLER up that thing. I was like- SERIOUSLY??

I was having this exact thought to myself on the 10 mile walk from the parking lot to my desk this morning. I thought, there HAS to be a way to keep my foot from being crushed in the front, making my heel slip out and then my pants get caught in the back of my shoe!

Re: Walking in heels
I have a pair of ankle boots and the heels are probably about 3 inches as well. I almost twisted my ankle TWICE in the past week at work.
In fact, it feels sore. I went to yoga and I could really feel it then and had to rub it.
Everyone is like, you shouldn't wear any kind of heel here, they are dangerous.
I have short legs though and a lot of my pants are long so I NEED the lift.

Someone did that with the escalator at Grand Central for the 7 train, too. Just as steep, but even worse because it's broken up into two parts. So you have to do it TWICE. I saw a woman with a baby carriage and pulling a cart with boxes strapped to it behind her. So I took the cart for her and let her concentrate on the carriage. Well, a blanket fell over the side of the box and got caught in the escalator at the bottom. I'm there trying to shove the cart off the escalator, while also still walking on it, there were people piling up behind me. OMG, it was a mess. I finally just had to kick it, ripping the blanket, but it got it moving. That's what you get for doing something good!!!
I give you ladies credit, I don't walk in heels. I can, but I just DON'T. I wear flats to wherever I'm going and change. Ah the beauty of a giant purse.

Walking in heels
But with nice skirts, dresses and dress pants what else is there to wear?? Today I have on high heeled, but chunky heeled, knee high boots. But with pants, I feel like I have to have some height. I try and get boots w/a thicker heel to wear under pants, but sometimes I just don't t hink anything looks quite as polished as a nice pair of regular high heels.

Oh, I agree. I love a nice skinny, stiletto. I just forego fashion until I get to where I'm going. I'll usually wear a pair of flats.
Heeled boots don't bother me, though. I'll wear those.
