Walt Whitman Mall Area
Hi -
I think I found the perfect house for DH and I BUT it is in Huntington Station near the Walt Whitman mall. Anyone know this area? The house is just east of the mall.
Thanks for any help!

Depends where it is. Some blocks over there are in the HHH SD.

We live on the west side of 110 by the mall and really like it here. We have been here for 6 years now.

Thank you ladies! One listing said the house is in Huntington Station and the other says So. Huntington. Not sure which elementary school.
I really wanted to live in a small town but if it's a nice area, I can deal with not having that "small town feel" like Babylon or Northport Village.

It is south of Jericho. It's between Melville Road and New York Ave.

Re: Walt Whitman Mall Area
I few up in Huntington station and it certainly gets its reputation because of some areas that are bad. However, I loved growing up there, I have many friends that still live in the area. My sister lives near where you are talking about and it's a great area. Lots of families, 10 minutes from Northern State, LIE, Village, etc. It's so centrally located. Great restaurants, I love Huntington. I believe the elementary schools are Country Wood but i can't remember since they've changed some of the elementary schools.
if you love it, go for it. I'm all for diversity in a school district - it's real, that's what life is about. try not to listen when people put down that district. I went to school with very wealthy people and poor people. Some kids went on to be laywers, doctors, astornauts (yeah believe that!) so go with what your gut says.

Re: Walt Whitman Mall Area
I live over there, it's considered South Huntington but the post office uses Huntington Station for the mail.
I LOVE the area, so many young families, so close to everything and at night you can't hear a pin drop it's that quiet.
We bought in Oct 07' and no regrets
You can ask me any questions
