Wanna know what annoys me?
This dude that sits in the desk next to me..... Everytime I say something.. Like ANYTHING- whether I'm talking to myself (yes, I do!) or asking him a simple question, he ALWAYS responds with "Whats that?" and I have to repeat myself.
It is beyond annoying. Why do I always have to repeat myself.
ETA: Just so you know, I am NOT speaking low. I am by no means very soft spoken.

ok, you're going to laugh..
i remember a while back someone posted on LIF that the person next to them talks to herself all day and it's annoying.
i remember other posters giving advice, such as "every time you hear her say something to herself, ask 'what?' to nip it in the bud"
maybe you are a victim of this!!

Is it possible he is saying that because your talking to yourself is annoying him? I only ask because the woman that sits next to me speaks to herself all day long, and i tried a similar tactic to get her to stop doing it. it didnt work though and the point was lost on her. I am not saying this is the case, but maybe that's why he is doing it?

LOL - that was me!!! I didnt see your response until i just posted mine!
NOOOO!! ha ha.. This is hysterical... Im not nutso!! Im not one of those people that stare at my screen and speak. I dont mean talk to myself in THAT way. I'll say a word outloud or laugh when I read a funny e-mail. 95% of the time this guy says "Whats that?" when I am speaking to him directly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK- I have had this problem before- if you need to ask him something, call his name and get his attention first.
Say "Excuse me, Harold?"
"Yes, how can I help you, hot pants?"
"Well, I was wondering...."
