want another baby but cant afford it?

Im really starting to get the itch for #2 Bryan is 2. But we really cannot afford it- Bryan goes to daycare full time and I just cannot afford to stay home. I was lucky to be able to stay home with Bryan for the first 18 months due to outstanding financial circumstances and saving alot of money beforehand. We cannot manage another one in day care we already pay 305 per week for just Bryan. Anyone else in this situation- how did/are you handling it? Physically I can wait because Im only 28 but Im starting to get the itch for number 2. I hate that money is controlling this situation right now Chat Icon

I agree with you but I came up with a possible idea....

I don't know if you could charge $10-$12 an hour for a college student, my sister made that when she babysat at 15.

Trying to find childcare stinks. If we have a second, we may have to wait til DS is 5.

I have a friend who has a 2 year old and is pg again. She has her son in daycare now, and has to work because she makes more than her DH. She is hiring a sitter to watch both children in her home while she works. You can definately find someone for a reasonable price. Good Luck

That is why we waited 5 years so we didn't have 2 in daycare.
I would say in home daycare too as it might be cheaper if you really want to have another one soon.
Good Luck!

I am interviewing a college student this week. If I decide to go that route, I'll be paying $300 a week for the baby and care for my son for an hour and a half each day. I know that's on the low side, but I cannot afford much more than that. A lot of girls that responded to my ad wanted $10-15 an hour.

We are in the same boat sort of. Family watches Andrew now and I don't think it would be fair for them to watch 2. I am going to try and hold out until we put Andrew in preschool next Sept.

Re: want another baby but cant afford it?

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think even the 10$ per hour wouldnt even help because I need someone 5 days perweek/11 hour days thats 550$ a weekChat Icon We cant do that that comes to around 2500-3000 per month on child care alone. Im guessing I will have to wait until Bryan is older. We have no family to help either which stinks.

Re: want another baby but cant afford it?

what you need to find is a mom who has kids and needs some extra money so she can stay home with her kids and watch yours as well. this is what I do
I babysit at my house so I can be a stay at home mom .....the only thing is is that my kids have to be picked up and dropped off at different places so the boy I babysit has to come
