You could read the paper to the baby and it would have no idea

You're right but I figured since we were going to read..might as well start up the collection now. Plus I get a discount on books over the next few days.

Love you Forever....
I was actually thinking of reading it the Chronicles of Narnia - I would love the excuse to read it again, and like someone said - what the baby going to know anyway? But maybe it will inherit mommy's love of reading somehow!!!

Re: Want to get ready to read to the baby (belly)
reading to the baby is a very nice thing. I am definitely going to do that. I am also going to buy tapes for the baby to listen to using headphones and portable CD player. I have to wait for like 6 more weeks though when the baby can finally hear.

Add these to the list:
Guess How Much I Love You The Runaway Bunny Anything by Eric Carle or Dr Seuss If you give a Pig a Pancake or any in that series. The Velvteen Rabbit.
I could go on and on...
Hope these help.

I second "Guess How Much I love you".
I ordered it, read it silently while DH was in the other room and by page 2 I was a crying hormonal mess I couldn't even pronounce the actual words.
My kids already have a ton of books. I've been buying them continuously. They have no clothes... they'll be naked and very well read

I like that. That sounds like a great idea.
I was thinking that I might read the books that were DH and my favorites when we were little. My favorites were The Pokey Little Puppy and Puppies and Kittens. (My mom saved them for me.) I would just need to find out what DHs were.

When I was a pre-school teacher I fell in love with, "I Promise I'll Find You". Like, "I Love You Forever", it's a real tearjerker!
