Want to pick your brains about FSH levels...
For those of you who know about my last IVF cycle which only resulted in 2 sub-quality embies (still in 2WW)- When I went in today for blood work I inquired about my day 3 FSH levels because Im stumped not knowing what caused the poor quality (I was fearing pre-menopause although my RE said absolutely not)...Anyway, the nurse said my FSH levels are great- under 5 every time(which anything under 10 is in range right?)...Does anybody else know what could cause the poor quality- My consult with the RE isnt for another week and as always I'm impatient ...thanks !

I don't know but could be the meds? Maybe you need a different approach? Also there are other tests like inhibin B and anti mullerian hormone you could have...These are guesses by the way.

Re: Want to pick your brains about FSH levels...
I am sorry you are not getting any explanations about why your IVF turned out the way it did. Maybe you can move up your appointment with your RE so you can have a face to face conversation about this sooner rather than later.
I have also come to understand that sometimes there is no logical explanation for why things work or don't work out when it comes to fertility treatments. My RE told me this in our first visit.

I am beginning to think the same thing about there being no rhyme or reason to this stuff...I'm going to try and hang tight until after my beta on Saturday and the consult is scheduled for 3 days after that and hopefully I'll get something from it..thank you !

They did say that they may consider adding Lupron the next cycle but that they were very happy the way I responded to the protocol I was on..I'mgoing to look up the other 2 names you mentioned ...thanks !

Re: Want to pick your brains about FSH levels...
Hi Bops, my FSH is under 5 also. I havent done IVF yet but am planning on it in May.
I am curious, what is your diagnosis for infertility? Sometimes endometriosis can interfere. My RE said it is quite possible that endo can play some role but not in every case. I am hoping that it doesnt cause a prob with me. I have endo, pcos and one fallopian tube.
I think the good news is my cousin had a prob with quality and got preggo on her second try. Keep up the faith and dont give up!!

I was told I have a "mild" case of PCOS- no endometriosis, no male factor, do have hypothyroid (which is under control w/ meds) and thats all I am aware of right now- I guess thats why the quality thing threw me a curve ball- I totally anticipated the normal problem of the embies not implanting but it never crossed my mind about quality (I guess you learn a lot of things the further you get into this whole thing as I'm learning)...Thank you for the inspirational story- you have no idea how much it hepls to hear things like that...Wishing you lots of luck in May !!!!!
