want to toot my own *great step-mom* horn
my SS is 13
he lives with his mom during the week, about 10-15 miles from my DH and me (and our DD)
he's with us everyother weekend via agreement through mediation but we have him most weekends bc he would rather be with us
his mom is psycho. she doesnt push him at all with school. doesnt check his work/homework, make sure he studies. his grades last quarter dropped severely and he failed english. my DH did his best to "motivate" him but found it tough with little support from his ex.
ive taken it upon myself this quarter to get him back on track. i emailed his teachers. i check his hw (when we have him). i MAKE him read and study   i tell him i push him because I CARE and I know he's intelligent and can do so much better.
well guess what -- his Eng avg is up 22pts, science up 10 pts, math us 7 pts, social studies us 10 pts! im so proud of him.
i just wish his deadbeat mom would wake up and realize she's ruining an AWESOME kid
