warning for those with IUDs

So I went about a month ago and got the paraguard IUD put in... and I went back last week for my gyn to check the strings and make sure it was in place and all was good.. she couldn't find the strings....
so I go today for a sono to check on it....ITS NOT THERE!!!! I had a small nervous breakdown while I waited for the pregnancy test to come back and Chat Icon NO I'm not preggers....
I just can't believe that the IUD fell out and I had NO ideaChat Icon soo for now I'm back on the minipill, I'm a little afraid to go with an IUD again...

Chat Icon I never checked mine. Thank god no surprises. It was there when I went to get it out but I will remember this because I know I won't want any surprises after the next baby.

It's very rare for it to "expel" after the first cycle w/ it (which is why the GYN checks you out). I was advised to use secondary methods until that first check up - the likelihood of it coming out afterward is slim. Hope that you've recovered from the panic!!Chat Icon
