Warning TMI - Question re: discharge after HSG

So as many of you know I had my HSG on Monday morning. Now, it's Wed. afternoon and I'm still having some cramping - not bad enough to take Advil but it comes and goes and hurts (almost feels like I have gas but I don't)...and here is the TMI part...I still have a little discharge that is tinged with brown blood (I notice it when I go to the bathroom and wipe). Is this normal?

If it isn't better by tomorrow I will call the doctor's office. I can't afford to be out of the office again this week...

Re: Warning TMI - Question re: discharge after HSG

I just checked online ... bloody discharge is normal up to two days later. If heavy bleeding occurs, call your doctor.

Also, re: having sex: I read on a site that you should wait TWO WEEKS after the procedure to BD, esp. if antibiotics were not given to you. This reduces the risk of an infection.

Another lost month .... Chat Icon !!!

Re: Warning TMI - Question re: discharge after HSG

I just read this:
You may bleed slightly or notice spotting for a couple of days. Use sanitary pads, do not use tampons.

I'm going to obstain from BDing until I O and then just BD. Hopefully the discharge will stop - seems its normal.

The site I just read aslo said:
Abstain from sexual intercourse for 24-48 hours and until the spotting has ceased.

Re: Warning TMI - Question re: discharge after HSG

Hi Ladies,
I wish I knew that everything was OK "in there" so we could BD...it's been a long time! I'm still getting weird pangs of pain every now and again but I'm not sure if it's from the HSG or not. The discharge has stopped (so far today anyway). If I am back on track with my regular cycle, I should be Oing Around Sun. or Mon (June 12-13) but no signs of that yet at all. Do you think my CM may be off this month from the HSG?

On another note, I'm still so freaked out by the HSG that I don't even want to check the height and softness of my cervix..never mind BD! Chat Icon
