Was anyone else here DENIED the Epidural because of an issue with Platelets?

With my first pregnany I had an induction. I planned on getting the EPI! I was told no by the anestesiologist. He said my platelets were too low. I am now having our second and super concerned that this will happen again. I will be seeing a hematologist, but my fears are still there, since If I need a c section they will have to put me completely out and can cause serious complications. Did anyone else have this problem and were you fine the second time around? What doctor did you see? What did they do to help you?Chat Icon Thank you

This happened to my friend who lives OOS - she had an epi during her first pregnancy but, had an issue with platelets the second time around and was told she couldn't get an epi.

Can you get a spinal instead of an epi? I had a c/s with my first and they did a spinal.

I am trying for a VBAC this time and will have an epi if I need it. I would be really pissssssed if I ask for an epi and can't get one (obviously they told you no for a good medical reason, so it's best to find out ahead of time!).
