Was I wrong? (Dress shopping) Long!

I like to shop in my local boutiques because they have a lot of stuff that you don't see everywhere and the clothes are really very nice. Anyway, i went to about 3 shops today and spent a $hitload of money. The last store I went to, I looked at a dress, saw it would fit and asked the salesgirl (she was the only one there ) if she could hold it while I tried on another dress.

Well, this dress was IMPOSSIBLE to get on. I didn't understnd. It was a size 6 and I am a 4 and it was like torture. I was all twisted up and crazy looking. I finally find a hidden zipper in the side and I manage to get it about 1/4 of the way down. The dress, from what i could tell, looked pretty damnn good, but I couldn't get it off! Finally I gave up and called the girl over to help me get it off. She said "Oh, the zipper is stuck!" And unzipped it all the way. So I go back to the rack with the dress and because it is a boutique, they only carry one or two sizes of each dress--of course this was the only 6. So I ask the girl "Do you have another size 6?" And she says "Why, you don't want that one?" And I said "Well, it was so hard to get on and off because of the broken zipper that I got a little makeup on it." Now of course the makeup could come off with a baby wipe or damp cloth, but it was $150!! So she said "Well, I'm not giving you another dress because you got make up on that one! You can buy the one you got makeup on." I said 'Forget it, just give me the dress I originally wanted."

Me either, regardless if it was my makeup or someone else's. I feel the same with deodorant markings.

if it was my makeup and i knew for sure that it would come off then i would have gotten it. the zipper being broken, however, is a no go for me.

Yeah, but I would never actually state that I got the make-up on it. Chat Icon

If the SA was less than helpful and refused to get me the other dress or at least look for another one in my size, than I would take note of the designer/brand and look for it elsewhere and that would also be the last time I shop in that boutique.

same here. And I agree with Chatham-Chick that I NEVER would have admitted to getting the makeup on it myself.

I know, but I kind of had no choice. It was the only dress in that size in this tiny boutique and I was the only customer and had to ask her to help me out of it! When I asked for another size b/c it had makeup on it, she was like "You mean YOU got makeup on it?" Chat Icon
