Was/Is your 11 month old able to do all this?
This is from Baby.com and it tells you what your 11 month old should be able to do. I know everyone develops differently and I'm not worried, just curious how many 11 months old were able to do these things.
Ask for a kiss and your little one should understand what you're saying. Babies at this age can follow simple instructions, passing a cup or giving a hug. And in addition to "Mama" and "Dada," your baby is able to babble short, fully inflected sentences that sound like a foreign language. Keep talking to your child, naming and labeling objects and people - the more you do, the faster your child's vocabulary will grow. By now, your baby should respond to simple questions - for example, "Where is your mouth?" - by pointing to the named object.
Hannah will give a kiss (no hugs yet.) She can "get the ball". She only says "dada" but not just to DH. She does babble alot. She can NOT show me her nose if I ask her.

My son still can't point to his nose at 16 months. I stopped looking at those milestones. I actually HATE them. They do nothing but drive us already neurotic parents more insane.

Look at it this way..while she may not be doing all the things that Baby.com has listed think of all the things that she is doing that arent on the list!!!!
All babies develope differently. Some are more all about gross motor development and they walk at 9 months..some are more language developed and talk and talk and talk...

Re: Was/Is your 11 month old able to do all this?
DD is walking, saying mama, dada, baby, blue (from blues clues),elmo, baba, she gives kisses and when asked how n=big is Brianna she does so big with her hands up
she doesnt point to her nose yet although she does try to rip mine off
I never liked to look at those milestone things because evry child does things at their own pace

Leah can blow a kiss, give a hug, and knows where her nose is, but she won't "get the ball" if we tell her to. I think she is a little stubborn sometimes. She usually doesn't even respond to her name, but she is doing that more and more now. She can say "hunter" (MIL's dog) and sort of says Dada but not to DH. She babbles a lot.

Don't read stuff like that...its BS. My son is nearly 2 and he can only say a few words....all kids develop at different paces!!

Re: Was/Is your 11 month old able to do all this?
My DD just started taking steps at 11 mo. and is trying her hardest. She has taken 7 full steps and almost has the confidence. She calls me 'NaNa' and DH 'DaDa'..is we ask her where the dog is she looks for her or crawls to the dogs bed. She calls "Jack" from Jacks Big Music Show... It sounds like she is saying "THAT".... She will try to repeat a word if i say it and then ask her to say it. She gives (or attempts to) kisses. if I say 'Oh No' she puts her hands on her head, she knows how to clap and wave bye bye, and brush her hair. I try not to follow the milestones tho because as mentioned earlier ..they can drive you nuts!

Lily's 12 months and is not doing all of that. She's pretty much doing the same things Hannah is.

Re: Was/Is your 11 month old able to do all this?
sometimes maddie points to the nose of her stuffed animals- but rarely- so who knows if she is just picking at them or responding... she does speak in a foreign language- and she points to things.... who knows what she is saying. she says "what's that"... she doesn't like to give kisses, but she will share what she's eating if you say, "can i have some?"

Re: Was/Is your 11 month old able to do all this?
Josh is a hit or miss...he will come and hug and kiss or point to things, only if he feels like it though. He does make babble sentences.
HOWEVER!!! You have given many of us a complex that are kids are not shape sorters, as little smartie Hannah is!
Josh still stares at me as though I am trying to teach him algebra.
I really think kids pick up on different things. I play with Josh a lot outside....so he points to leaves and grass and cars. Since I feel like I nurse all day long, he is constantly touching my face so that is how he knows my nose and eyes...mainly me saying get your finger out of my eye!
Shape sorting and puzzles....I don't do it consisitantly. I have to work on it.

Re: Was/Is your 11 month old able to do all this?
Matty started walking at 10.5 months and is now RUNNING around at 11 months.
He initiates peek a boo games, recognizes certain words and smiles- he loves going past the house with the "tinkle tinkles" outside (windchimes) and smiles when we ask him if he wants to go or smiles when we ask him if he wants to play row your boat.
But, he rarely claps, or waves bye bye- (only if he really feels like it) and he doesn't say a word! He knows how to "pat the dog" .
He says ga ya ga da ya- and that's it- sometimes I worry about it.

Re: Was/Is your 11 month old able to do all this?
My daughter is 19 months and probably around 17 1/2 months she understood giving a kiss and around 18 months she was able to point to some body parts (nose, head ears) I did teach DD more and please sign language and she learned that pretty early. AT that age she new what the dog was and would go pet the dog when we told her too.
I don't worry too much about those milestone lists that are out there. I just take note to make sure she is doing something new all the time. I would be concerend if your child wasn't doing anything new but every child develops differently.

Re: Was/Is your 11 month old able to do all this?
Well Niko is 13 months and can't do a lot of those things (I used to drive myself crazy reading those milestone things and then just stopped altogether )
He will not point to his nose or mouth, he just laughs when I ask him to ...
and he's still not even walking yet, just taking a few steps here and there when he feels like it...
He's not much of a kisser or hugger, but will do so on the rare occassion.. I don't think he really gets the concept of kiss and hug yet actually (and also he's not the cuddly, affectionate type..)
he waves bye bye, and claps his hands.. and gives high fives..
He does point to different familiar objects when I ask , if I show him a picture of our extended family he can pick out Grandma and Grandpa and me and daddy (and Mia the cat of course).
he does babble NONstop.. but it's just that, babbing. The only words I can make out are Mama, dada, cat, light, bye bye and hi... oh and he says NO too
