No - your taxes will change is when its a new tax year or you are reassessed. buying the house doesn't get your reassessed.

they reassessed ours and it only went up $96 for the year, but who knows what will happen in the new tax year. You can also grieve your taxes, I know we will be doing that soon.

A year later (after the house was re-assessed by the town) our taxes went up over $2k. Chat Icon I think you should always expect your taxes to go up after you purchase a home. They usually re-evaluate after every sale.

Yup. We knew our taxes wouldn't be what the owners paid b/c he was a war veteran, so he had extra STAR fringes on his, and he was an elderly man, so we knew we'd pay close to the $8k until our STAR application was accepted.

Well K, its up to the real estate agent to check w/ the town on what YOUR taxes will be & then your attorney to double check. Like someone else said I don't believe they reassess your house when it is sold. You probably just won't get the STAR for the first year
