Was your NIPT test accurate for gender?
I just had the Verifi test done and was told that the baby did not have any of the screened health conditions and that it is a girl. We are over the moon, as we already have two boys and would love a little girl to complete our family.
My doctor portrayed to me that the test is pretty much totally accurate. But I'm googling (bad I know) about women who were told one gender and ended up with another at their anatomy sonogram! I just wondered what people's experiences have been on here. Can I start shopping or is there's a real chance the gender results could be wrong? Thanks!

I dont have any first hand experience with this because we didnt take the test, but from what I understood, the blood test is like 99% accurate. I would think that it's much more likely that the ultrasound techs were incorrect than the blood test.

From my understanding, human error is the only way to get a false report (mixing up your results with someone else, transcribing wrong information, etc.). DNA doesn't lie.

Thanks ladies. I just needed to hear some sane words. I just feel like this is too good to be true.

Re: Was your NIPT test accurate for gender?
I had it with dd2 and it was accurate. BUT when we went for our anatomy scan the tech said in all his years he did have it wrong from two people. They saw it on the anatomy scan and confirmed the blood test was wrong with an amnio.

Re: Was your NIPT test accurate for gender?
It's 99% accurate. The only way it could be inaccurate is if they're reading the mother's DNA in the bloodstream, not the baby's. That would be human error of an inexperienced scientist.
