Washer recommendations
The motor on our washing machine was smoking and now it doesn't work so we need a new one. Does anyone have any recommendations? We need a super capacity - as big as you can get. Thanks!

Re: Washer recommendations
I love love love love our GE washer. It is HUGE! I have to stand on my tippy toes to reach all the way to the bottom!
Here is a link to the page GE Washer
The previous owners put it in 3 months before they sold the place. Not sure what they were replacing but I couldn't be happier!
Are you replacing your dryer as well?

We are not replacing our dryer. We only had our washer about seven years before this happened (my mom has the same one, bought it a few years before me and hers is still working - guess I just got a bad one). We bought our dryer only a couple years ago. Thanks for the recommendation!
Jenn: Do you have any problems with the front loading washer? I've been reading up on them and there seem to be some issues. I love the idea of saving water and money with them, and they are supposed to get clothes cleaner, but I'm skeptical.

Re: Washer recommendations
I like GE washers and dryers, but for me they need to have metal insides becuase they work better than the plastic ones do. I am not a fan of so many butons on them either, so I got the top of the line metal one without the lights and no push button b/c you could even see with the store model, the button was torn.

Re: Washer recommendations
I haven't had any problems with my washer or dryer and we've had it for about 3 years (and I do at least 1-2 loads a day with 2 kids!!).... LOVE it! I can fit a ton of stuff in there and it still comes out clean! It does save water, I forget how much it uses but I know that it is significantly less than a regular washer... and it is metal inside and the buttons are hard plastic so they won't tear

Oh and you can stack them! That's what we did and it takes up so little room!

Mine has the stainless drum. I agree that it is better than the plastic!
Although I didn't pick it out (it came with our house), I would still recommend it. Yes, it has a lot of buttons, but that just means more options!

We have an LG Front Loading Washer (Model WM2432HW ). I love it! It's so quiet and can wash a king size comforter.

Us too. We had a front loading washer in Ireland and I didn't like it. It stinks if you forget something because you can't throw it in once it starts to fill. That is my only complaint with front loaders.

Re: Washer recommendations
I just bought the Kenmore front loader washer and dryer and I love it. We have it stacked. We bought the middle level one, not the cheapest and not the biggest. I posted a pic on a previous thread.
And you can add something up until 6 minutes after it starts. It has a special light that tells you when you can "add a garment".
